The Great Pinoy Boxing Era

Check out:

The Great Pinoy Boxing Era

It's a great 30-minute film on the glorious era Filipino boxing from the 1920-1940s. A little short on film footage, it contains insightful interviews of some of the greatest boxes of that era. I like how they linked kali/arnis to the effective Pinoy style of boxing and how sugarcane workers became good boxers.

Pinoy boxing, "an untapped source of pride", is so true. Nothing against groups like Bayanihan Dancers and the other cultural presentations, but I've seen how audiences enjoy and are impressed with Filipino Martial Arts presentations.

We should consider how FMA can help contribute to the cultural energy of the Filipinos and in national development.
